Let There Be Joy spoken word

A spoken word film calling hope, healing and holy joy over our streets, homes and communities. Written by Matt Britton for Proximity Conference 2026, this piece imagines what it might look like for the joy of God to break into places marked by pain, loneliness, addiction, anxiety and sorrow.

Let there be joy.

Not a shallow joy. Not a joy that ignores pain. But a deep, defiant, Spirit-filled joy that takes root in ordinary streets, heavy hearts, struggling homes and overlooked communities.

In this filmed spoken word, Matt Britton paints a vivid picture of joy breaking into the places where it is needed most: children lighting up the streets with their smiles, asylum seekers finding a warm welcome, loneliness giving way to like-mindedness, and laughter bubbling up like carbonated holiness.

Originally created for the Proximity Conference 2026 theme, Let There Be Joy, this short film is a prayer, a provocation and a blessing for all who serve in under-resourced communities.

Show it, share it, and let it stir fresh hope for your church, your community and your streets.
