Leaving Egypt is a series of conversations with Jenny Sinclair, Al Roxburgh and guests exploring the vocation of the church in a context of cultural unravelling. They share stories of how local expressions of God’s people are contributing to the reweaving of hope in our common life.

Two episodes particularly stood out.

Episode 4 – Entitled ‘A church rediscovers its neighbourhood’ Nick Graves is a Baptist minister and has been pastor of Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church in Purley for just over eleven years. Graves says ‘the barrier of middle-class church is a reality: most churches have become estranged from poor people. Ironically churches themselves are marginalised, facing a steep trajectory of decline.’ The conversation is really compelling and inspiring to all those looking for something more on a Sunday morning.

Episode 8 –‘Full time neighbours’. After pastoring for over twenty years at a large city church, and fulfilling a range of senior leadership positions, Karen Reed took the risk twelve years ago to live as an urban worker, joining with what God is doing in East Vancouver, one of the most unchurched neighbourhoods in Canada. Karen made some key choices to help form local community and the results are challenging and inspiring.Jenny Sinclair is the founder and director of Together for the Common Good, full of charisma, ideas, and humility. A podcast full of thought-provoking conversation, well worth listening to.
